I have fished with Jeff numerous times over the last. We have a

ALWAYS caught fish, even when it wasn’t the best day for fishing.

Jeff Fletcher has inherited his dad’s fishing ability and wit. Ol’ J.D. was a self-professed Ozark hillbilly who was a legend on Ozarks float streams and Table Rock Lake. He has passed away, but Jeff keeps the family heritage alive. He mixes old-time fishing knowledge with modern tactics to guide his customers to unforgettable experiences on the water., whether it be in a jon boat on the Kings River or a bass boat on Table Rock Lake.

The Fletchers always gave me plenty to write about when I was the outdoors editor for The Kansas City Star.  I’ve fished with Jeff since he was a teenager,  and I can look back at plenty of great trips with him.  He will get you on fish, and keep you entertained with stories about J.D. at the same time.

One of the greatest pleasures of my life has been to become friends and fish with Jeff Fletcher and his late dad, the legendary J.D. Fletcher. Those floats down the Kings River are priceless memories I cherish to this day. The fishing was always super and fun, but the best part was just being in the company of these two father and son guides. Our floats were scenic and relaxing and Jeff and J.D. put on a stream fishing show that was second to none each time, with some laughs always a big part of the trip.

 One time J.D. caught a fair sized smallmouth bass and, admiring his catch, said to Jeff, “That’s a 3-pounder right there.” Jeff shot back, “Aw dad, you’re putting the Fletcher stretcher on that fish!” So much fishing fun with the Fletchers.

As an avid fisherman who generally does well on my own, I had never been on a guided trip. I was skeptical but Jeff definitely put me on the fish. He has fished these waters literally his entire life with his father, who was nationally known as a guide and a Missouri legend. Not only did we catch fish, but we did it efficiently. He didn’t drive around all day trying to find them he had a couple good spots already planned out so we spent our time fishing instead of searching. It was a great time and I would definitely recommend it even for experienced fisherman who just want to get on the fish and catch them.
